Description

This innovative new bulb from Zoo Med pushes the boundaries of the industry technology levels, providing a compact ES fitting bulb that offers UVA, UVB and full spectrum lighting, making it ideal for a host of reptile species.

This 9w bulb provides 13 LEDs, made up of 8 6500K, 1 UVA and 4 UVB. The UVB means it can cater for the health requirements of many reptiles, whilst also providing the UVA, for optimum vision and regulation of Vitamin D3. The last set of LEDs are the full spectrum, meaning there is visible light that we can see, as well as plants. These 6500K LEDs mean plant growth will thrive, whilst also allowing optimum viewing for you of your enclosure and its' inhabitants. These are encased in a compact casing with a standard ES screw fitting, and includes a quartz glass cover which UVB can penetrate easily.

This bulb can be used for almost any species, as long as it is installed at the correct distance for that animal, which should be between 8 - 36" distance from the reptile. You need to determine the Ferguson Zone of your species, and then check the specifications to see at what distance your bulb should be located to provide this UVI level.

The ReptiSun UVB/LED should last around 4 years, if used 12 hours a day. After 4 years, 20,000 hours, the UVB output will drop by 50%. It is covered by a 1 year warranty.

The ReptiSun comes with a standard ES screw fitting and will work with any normal reptile bulb holder. It doesn't produce any heat from only 9w, and should not be used with a thermostat, as this will effect the UVB output and mean the bulb does not function properly. It can be used with a timer though, ensuring a regular day and night cycle that is vital to many species.

This can be used in vivariums or terrariums, depending on the spcecies and the distance that the bulb needs to be to suit them. It can be used either on top of a mesh lid or inside it, and the mesh does effect the output of the UVB, so ensure you check the table to get the correct distance if this is over mesh or not.
