Nothing adds flavour to cooked dishes and salads so simply as freshly picked herbs from your garden. All the basil family are very frost tender. Aristotle Basil is a highly aromatic basil which forms an almost perfect round ball of leaves making it perfect for patio or window sill. What better way to use your basil than in your own home made pesto to mix with pasta, spread on white fish or chicken. Delicious!WHEN TO SOW March to June WHERE TO SOW Sow in March to June in modules or seed tray. Minimum temperature (soil & air) 21oC to 24oC. WHAT TO DO NEXT Transplant after 22-24 days from sowing, into pots for the patio/ sunny window sill or well lit conservatory. If you want to place your pot outside you will need to harden off from late May. First harden them off during the day and bring them in at night for a fortnight. Their final home needs to be a sunny, sheltered spot. Basil in a pot needs regular feeding. Use a general purpose liquid feed. HARVEST June to September HANDY TIP Water little and often, nip out the tips and remove any flower buds that appear. This will help the plant grow strong and leafy.
