Dig In before flowering, at least 2 weeks before the next crop. Cut down with a spade if they get too large, but do not forget to leave the nitrogen-rich roots.

Comments
A winter green manure such as field beans will attract useful slug predators. Beetles and frogs love the cool, damp conditions. If plants become too large, chop down before digging in.
