Description

The classic orientale poppy with large bright scarelt-red flowers and jet black centre, standing out from borders.

Height: 80cm (32"")

Hardy perennial - orientale type

CAUTION: HARMFUL IF EATEN!

Pack size: 100 Seeds

Sow February to June or September and October

Where to sow - Under cover sow seeds onto the surface of a good free draining seed compost. Do not cover the seed as light helps germination. Place at a temperature of 15°C (60°F) until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days.

When to transplant - Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots and grow on until larger. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out in a cold frame 30cm (12"") apart. Later sowings should be overwintered in a cold frame for planting out the following spring.

Flowers May to July the following year.

Handy Tip - the large vibrant blooms are perfect planted in a border of hot colours.
