Description

The Prince produces long straight pencil pods of excellent flavour. The beans are stringless when picked young. Because of their appearance they make for a good choice for the exhibitor. This family of beans is frost tender and cannot be sown until the weather has warmed up. WHEN TO SOW April to June WHERE TO SOW Early sowings in glasshouse or cold frame in individual pots or modules. Direct sowings in growing site, 2 seeds 5cm (2"") deep every 20cm (8"") in rows 60cm (24"") apart. WHAT TO DO NEXT Glasshouse seedlings should be gradually hardened off before planting out in late May to above spacings. Direct sowings should be thinned to single seedlings as soon as large enough to handle. Water regular HARVEST May Onwards HANDY TIP For a really early crop, place cloches in growing site in March and sow seeds under them in April, remove cloches in late May NUTRITIONAL VALUE A good source of Pro-vitamin A, Vitamin K and Folic acid.
