Description
Description
Safari is a late maturing type with strong vigorous plant habit. It produces very fine pods which are carried high on the bush. The pods are round, stringless, straight and dark green, being about 12cm in length. Safari is sometimes known as Kenyan Beans and has a high level of disease resistance. This family of beans is frost tender and cannot be sown until the weather has warmed up.,Seed Count: 125,WHEN TO SOW Early April to late June. WHERE TO SOW Early sowings in a glasshouse with 2 or 3 seeds into a 9cm pot. Outside sowings from May onwards, 4cm deep, spaced 5cm apart in rows 30cm apart. WHAT TO DO NEXT Glasshouse seedlings should be gradually hardened off before planting outside in late May. Outside sowings should be thinned to 10cm apart as they become large enough to handle. MATURITY Early July onwards. HANDY TIP It is probably better to sow small lots at regular intervals as this will ensure a continuous supply of fresh beans. NUTRITIONAL VALUES Good source of folic acid and vitamins A and K.
