There is nothing quite as special as using your own home grown herbs to add flavour to your cooking or salads. Bergamot has showy flowers in shades of pink/purple which can be dried and used in pot pourri. The leaves have a citrus tang to them and make delightful teas. Bergamot grows to about 60cm (24""). Bergamot goes well with oranges so would make an unusual addition to your home made marmalades.,Seed Count: 75,WHEN TO SOW Mid May to late June. WHERE TO SOW In boxes or pots, in coldframes or covered with glass or polythene. WHEN TO TRANSPLANT When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into pots or boxes and grow on until ready for planting out in September or October. HANDY TIP Dried bergamot leaves and flowers can both be used in pot pourri. Or the pinkish purple leaves can be dried for decoration. Try adding it to vegetable and pork dishes. Use in salads and sweet jellies, and to make teas.
